My Struggle with Packing for Hawaii

Normally I love packing. It gets me excited for wherever I’m going. I’m especially excited for this trip to Hawaii, since I’ll be seeing family I haven’t seen in a long time. Anyway, my parents and I leave in just two days and packing has just been stressful.

I like everything to be organized, so I use packing cubes. They keep my nicer clothes separated from my other clothes, plus they save space in my suitcase. I’m a bit of a neat-freak when it comes to my luggage, everything has to be organized and in place. I like to sort out my clothes by type, such as skirts separated from my shirts and pants separated from my dresses. However, since I’m going to Hawaii and all I really plan on bringing are (mostly) dresses, I’ve found it difficult to figure out how to organize everything.

Last night I was packing for about 3 hours, until I had to quit because I was getting so frustrated. I tried separating my dresses by type, but it just wouldn’t work. And so I had to suck it up and combine some shirts with skirts and skirts with dresses. I don’t know why that’s a big deal to me, but it is.

I also had a problem finding clothes that I wanted to bring. I’m not a big fan shorts and t-shirts, I like wearing dresses and skirts. However I found it difficult to figure out outfits. There not really an excuse why it was difficult, it just was.

With some re-organizing and some tears, I think I finally figured out how to get everything in my suitcase some-what organized. Now I just have to worry about my carry-on, which should be much less stressful!

  1. Packing cubes are the best! They completely changed my life ahaha, I went from packing a 100L Suitcase to just a single 30L daypack for my trip to Central and South America!
